Actress-turned-politician and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut has made a big revelation about the release date of her upcoming film 'Emergency'. The film features Kangana in the lead role disguised as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

In a social media post on her Instagram account on Tuesday, June 25, Kangana shared a new poster of the film based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The poster revealed that it will release on September 6 and features Kangana in the role of Indira Gandhi. She looks towards the poster. At the same time, the caption of the post reads: "Commencing the 50th year of the darkest chapter of independent India, Kangana Ranaut's #Emergency in cinemas on September 6, 2024."
 

Will hit the theatres after several delays

The film's release date was postponed last month due to the 18th Lok Sabha elections. Kangana Ranaut is the lead actress, writer, director and producer of the film 'Emergency'. Produced by Manikarnika Films Production, the film is an upcoming political drama that has seen several delays. Its initial release date is set for November 24, 2023.

The actress announced the release date on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the imposition of 'state of emergency' in India by the former Prime Minister on June 25, 1975. The plot revolves around this defining moment in India's political history.

Its star cast includes Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik. Renu Pittie and Kangana produced the film, whose screenplay and dialogues are written by Ritesh Shah.
