Chandu Champion 2024 Storyline
Actor Kartik Aryan's upcoming film 'Chandu Champion' is grabbing people's attention. When the poster was unveiled a few days ago, his appearance changed so much that people had to look twice to confirm that it was the 33-year-old actor.
The biopic is based on the life of India's first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, a boxer and soldier turned swimmer. The trailer says, "The story of Murlikant Petkar is the story of independent India."
Set against the backdrop of India's struggle for independence, Murali's journey depicts the country's struggle for freedom, as he overcomes many obstacles to achieve greatness through determination.
After being shot nine times in the 1965 Indo-Pak war, Murlikant Petkar turned to swimming as a means of rehabilitation. Originally a boxer in the Arms and Services branch of the Indian Army, he also excelled in other sports, reaching the javelin slalom throw final at the 1968 Paralympic Games, winning a gold medal in swimming four years later (1972, German Games).
He also holds the world record in the 50-meter freestyle swimming event with a time of 37.33 seconds. India honored him with the Padma Shri in 2018, 46 years after his achievement. His tenacity and achievement led former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid to specifically mention Petkar in his book on disabled athletes.
The film is directed by Kabir Khan, known for films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, 83 and co-produced with Sajid Nadiadwala. The trailer looks promising, easily fulfills the requirements of a biopic and is getting a positive response from the audience.
Karthik's new look is also receiving praises. His commitment to his role is evident in his physical transformation, which he achieved through a rigorous diet and intense training for a year and a half.
However, Kartik Aaryan was not the first actor to tackle the story of the unsung hero. Muralikanth, in one of his first interviews, recalled how actor Sushant Singh, whose death had shocked him, approached him and showed great interest in working on his biopic.
There is a strong market for biopics in Bollywood, as proven by previous hits like Sushant Singh Rajput's MS Dhoni, Farhan Akhtar's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Vineet Kumar Singh's Mukkabaaz. Time will tell if Chandu Champion joins this list or not.
